6 Reasons White Chocolate Hills Resort Is Your Best Vacation Choice

It’s the best way to ruin your vacation…You do lots of research, you read reviews, you look at pictures.
You book a vacation, and look forward to that special moment when imagination becomes reality.
And yet, more often than not…the pictures were staged, the bad reviews were deleted or hidden, and your internet research has let you down….you end up sleeping next to a construction site, eating sub-par food that lacks passion and taste, and paying extra hidden fees for activities, outings, and even basic housekeeping services….What?!

This is why we are proud of White Chocolate Hills Resort – We are simple, authentic, and we genuinely care about creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and rest. Here are six big ways we stand taller than all of our competitors, and why you should choose us for your next vacation to the Philippines.

6. Our Pictures Aren’t Staged

This is possibly the best reason why we stand alone when it comes to our online presence…What you see is exactly what you get.
We do have a photographer on our staff, and yet she does absolutely no staging…of course, she knows all of the tricks to maximizing the aesthetics of a hotel room, a plate of food, or a landscape….but here at White Chocolate Hills Resort…genuine transparency to our potential guests is absolutely important.
When you see pictures like this:

White Chocolate Hills Resort 2068

White Chocolate Hills Resort 2122

Our Modern Relax Bungalow

You can be guaranteed that it is exactly what you’ll see once you get here.

( Unless we plant more plants and flowers, or you order a different breakfast option of course! )

5. Our Reviews Are Genuine, and We’re Not Afraid of Negative Comments

If you visit our TripAdvisor or Facebook Pages and read the reviews, you’ll notice that we take the good with the bad.
You’ll also notice that we’re quick to respond to feedback, and we genuinely care about our Guest’s opinions.
Not every resort or Hotel is as transparent as we are, and for good reason: If you found out their breakfast menu was bland, or that their rooms & facilities were dirty, falling apart, or outdated…they would lose their grasp on the tourism market!

We take a much different approach here.
We love our jobs, we love our Guests, and for quite a few of the staff here, this is our home!
We take good care of our home, and we invite you to come experience our genuine hospitality.
We know that we cannot please every single person in the world….but we’ll sure try!

4. Our Reputation Has Grown Organically…Just Like Our Food!

We don’t rely on heavy marketing campaigns, PR stunts, or industry networking to lure in customers.
Sure, when someone visits the resort and wants a few brochures to give to friends and family, that’s fine by us! …but we don’t actively fish for leads.
Other resorts dump money into PR management, Marketing Teams, and Event Sponsorship in order to get their name out into the world….
We know that if we provide excellent service, excellent quality food, and excellent, clean facilities, people will want to hang out and stay with us.
Over 4,000 Facebook ‘likes’ and 43 Five-Star ratings in less than five months is proof positive that we’re the new, young leaders of the pack in our industry.

We’d rather genuinely curious, happy, excited people here at our resort than someone who comes here based on false or faulty advertisements, or someone who comes here as part of a marketing deal. We show you the real ‘us’…so we can meet the real you!

3.  We’re Beautiful 😉
Not to toot our own horn, but our landscaping is impeccable, and so wonderful to look at and explore!White Chocolate Hills Resort 2064
We have over 17 different species of edible fruits, herbs, spices and plants….and we have over 10 different varieties of flowers.
Not to mention, we’ve created a ‘Little Bohol’, and own eight mini Chocolate Hills right here in Zamboanguita!
Our architecture is 100% unique to all of Asia, and there are no boxy apartment buildings or eyesores…just pure, green, lush plants….vibrant flowers, and mind-blowing views of Mt. Talinis mountain and Pacific Ocean from our deck.

2. We’re friendly, and Not Afraid of Having Fun

From the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave us, you will be showered with warm smiles, great conversation, passionate service and the comfortable feeling of being at home with family.

Our staff are known for being accommodating to any and all requests and our office is open to any question you may have….from local activities, to cultural questions…even book or movie recommendations…they’ve got you covered.
Our Disco nights are easily becoming the talk of the neighborhood…dance tunes and affordable drinks…as well as room specials and free entrance.
We also have the best dance moves ever. 😉

Countless resorts in the Philippines have the reputation of being pretty to look at…but not so wonderful to talk to.
We’re not sure why…the Philippines is known globally for having the happiest people on the planet!….Maybe they’re just sad they don’t work with us.
If you want a hassle-free check-in, and a quick, painless checkout with absolutely zero hidden fees and expenses, book your stay with us and experience the easiest, most honest customer service in the country.

1. Rain Won’t Spoil Anything Here

Another vacation-killer is normally a rainy day…but not here!
If it rains, we have a giant deck that provides complete cover for you to relax and have fresh-brewed, locally-sourced coffee…one of our hot home-made soups…or even just to read a book or gaze at the storm.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can always head to the beach & go snorkeling…if you’re lucky you can spot turtles, seahorses, exotic corals and fish, and so much more.

With reasons like this….and many more waiting to be discovered by you….you simply cannot pass up the opportunity to call White Chocolate Hills Resort your new home away from home.

Call, message, visit or text us today and book a reservation….we promise you’ll leave with a smile, and maybe a few tears!

Good Morning to our blog followers!

2015 may seem like it’s far away, but in the Fashion world, the next ‘Big Thing’ is always right around the corner.
This blog will talk about the newest, hottest trends of next year, and which brands will fizzle out.
If you’re fashion forward, and want to be in the front of the line, get behind these new brands so you can say you were the first!
(And don’t worry, guys…there’s some hot info for you too, so keep reading!)

 Trends For Fashion

Anyone who’s anyone has heard of the big names: Coach, Prada, Armani, Marc Jacobs….but I bet you haven’t heard of Soka, Vega Zaishi Wang, Sharon Ehman, Cinzia Araia, Markus Lupfer or Yohji Yamamoto.

It’s high time you did!
009_e54471d9-778e-4e43-8096-a3d07b101333Cinzia Araia  is a master at making sexy shoes.
Just look at these two !
They are made in Italy, where all the best shoes come from, and are created with genuine leather and suede.
Find their Facebook right Here10553274_2757256_1000

Markus Lupfer is a celeb’s best kept secret.dpp_0004_1
Everyone from Rhianna to Blake Lively have been seen sporting his trendy approach to fashion and accessories.
From awesome iphone cases, to feminine yet tough-girl clothing, this designer is a man to watch and collect.

Website found Here

Miss Vega Zaishi Wang is a completely brilliant designer that has been creating ready-to-wear collections for five years.

She brings back the allure and grace of feminine beauty, and her clothing works for every type of woman; from the Mysterious Vixen, to the Sweet-as-Sugar Schoolgirl.
Impeccably cut and designed for the lingering eye, this woman is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Her collections can be seen on her Facebook page, Here

black-shiny-python-clutch-562x843         Very little is known about Soka…founded by Stephanus Lukmanto, he currently works with fashion designer Karina Wijaya to create            100% handmade clutch bags and beautiful dresses and jackets inspired by Ikat and Batik methods.product-preview211-562x843They can be found on Facebook Here,  and on their website, Here.

If you like a little edge and spook to your clothing, you will never go wrong by choosing Toronto Fashion Designer Sharon Ehman.

She is the sole creator, designer, and model for Toxic Vision clothing.
Not for the feint of heart, each piece is 100% hand made, and her collections are desperately sought-after around the globe.
Her pieces can be very expensive, but trust us….they’re worth it.
Good Luck to anyone who wishes to own a piece of her work…each collection is released via her website only, and once they’re gone, there’s no second chance to acquire.
Keep updated on collection releases via Facebook, Here….and buy her pieces Here

Trends For Beauty and Cosmetics

Our favorite!
But of course, we’re not talking Lancome, M.A.C, or Dior here….and with good reason!
Not only are these giants highly overpriced and underperforming…but there’s also many questions and muddy waters on who exactly still tests on animals.
That’s why it’s better for your wallet, your skin, and your conscience to check out these amazing little-known brands.

The King of Cosmetics and fresh bath and beauty products is without a doubt, Lush.
Not only are their products 100% natural, organic, vegetarian, and packed with amazing flowers, oils and herbs…but they’ve been fighting animal testing for thirty years, and have an Ethical Buying Team to find fair trade and sustainable sources for their ingredients.

That means their Vanilla Absolute from Uganda helps Mubuku farmers get the best prices and profits for their products….Their cocoa beans come from Colombia and supports a group quietly resisting political violence in the region……Their argan oil comes from Morocco, has stimulated the local economy and given local women a sustainable job.

Lush is committed to fresh handmade products, sustainable business practices, low-or-no packaging, and giving back to the communities they work with.

Anyway, back to the products!
There is so much to choose from, you have to see it all yourself…body butters, oil-free hand lotions, aluminum-free deodorants, soaps that smell so tasty that its hard not to eat them….spend a day just browsing and reading all the awesome goodies they have!
They also have a range of products exclusively for men, like the ‘Guv’ner’ deoderant, and the best shaving cream you can buy, ‘Razorantium’

For cosmetics, they have a fairly new line of color for lips, eyes, and skin.

Some of our favorites are the ‘Feeling Younger Skin Tint’, that reflects light and makes you look bright and shiny all day, the FIVE GRAM mascara t03533ube, ‘Eyes Right’ that contains wheatgrass for strengthening and smoothing your lashes, and japan wax, for extremely long day-use and no flakes or crumblies.
This stuff doesn’t go anywhere, and best of all it doesn’t hurt your eyes, like other chemical mascaras.

Visit their website Here, but be prepared to browse for days!

Similar to Lush, but much more simple is Nude Bath Products.

Still a growing local company, owner Karen Murdock offers a fresh, clean product line that includes lip balms, facial masks, scrubs, soaks and soaps. Visit their Facebook page Here, and tell them we sent you!

Well fans, that’s it for today….stay tuned for Part Two, where we’ll cover the hottest places to find unique and daring jewelry and accessories.

Don’t forget to share this blog post, like our FB page, and tell your friends and family!
(And call us to reserve a visit soon, of course.)

To Be Creative Means To Be In Love With Life

Good Morning Blog-Readers!

If you visit the markets and out-of-the-way village areas in the Philippines, you will be lucky enough to witness the impressive creativity of the Philippine people.
Hand-carved lamps, chairs, lizards, masks, and necklaces are only a few of the items available as keepsakes of your visit here.

One group of people in particular, the Ifugao, have been globally hailed as among the best in wood carving.
The art of Ifugao handcarving has been passed down from generation to generation, and the largest living village today can be found on Asin road, on the way to Baguio City.

The 1st Pa-ot Festival in Tadiangan, Benguet took place last May 22-24, and was a spectacular festival showcasing the Ifugao people’s innate ability for producing beautiful, intricate carvings.
There was also a native wine-making & tasting event, cultural dance & song clinic, backstrap weaving contest, broom-making clinics, and rattan weaving demonstrations.

Traditionally, Bulul sculptures were used for ceremonies centered on healing & rice production…the statues were highly prized and represented ancestors, guardian gods & spirits.
Today, many different items are carved, and not only just out of wood…sometimes stone is used.

Here at White Chocolate Hills Resort, if you look carefully, you can see that we have quite a few hand-carved masks and statues…keeping this lovely art alive is vitally important, and each unique piece has cultural value and significance.
If you have the chance to stop by Malatapay Market, there is a souvenir shop run by three brothers that know the art of hand-carving, and create amazingly detailed pieces for sale at very affordable prices.
Tell them we sent you!

That’s all for today, don’t forget to like, share and rate us on Facebook, TripAdvisor, and Twitter!

I Wish The World Was Twice As Big and Half Was Unexplored

In today’s day and age, more and more people are becoming restless with their local surroundings.
It is not a lack of patriotism for the person’s country, city or town, but rather a return to our explorer instincts…a deep tapping of a well that has never run dry.

Humans have always explored the world around them.
Whether it be the plants and animals in their area, walking hundreds of miles to new territory, or setting sail for uncharted lands across vast oceans…Human beings seem to have an innate desire to know the unknown.

Back in the golden days of global exploration, potential travelers faced many obstacles, including lack of funding, incomplete maps and broken navigation equipment, the threat of food shortages and malnutrition, and also, the danger of encountering new people that were hostile to the idea of being visited.

Today the idea of travel and exploring takes on the sepia-toned, dusty hue of an early Indiana Jones movie…all adventure and boot-stomping…but back in the early centuries, your first journey could also potentially be your last.

Thankfully, today’s younger generations have taken up the centuries-old tradition of testing out new waters…2014 Tourism Industry trends point to growing numbers of ‘Millenials’ (18-20 year olds) who will lead the way to more urban locations with plenty of opportunity to mingle with local people instead of fancy resorts and ‘tourist traps’.

Many realize that simply visiting a foreign country and staying within the perfectly-manicured walls of a foreign-centric hotel isn’t an authentic taste of reality…with the advent of such technology-driven resources as, and, there are plenty of new ways to visit, live like, and learn from local cultures all over the world.

The younger generation is also more globally focused, and want their vacations to have a social impact…’Voluntourism’ is the hottest travel trend of the day, and involves getting locally involved by planting trees, ‘WWOOF-ing’, building homes, volunteering tutoring skills, and many other opportunities that enrich the lives of locals in the chosen location.

Getting to and from your chosen location has definitely improved by leaps and bounds as well…rickety wooden ships and month-long horse rides have given way to lightning-fast bullet trains, airplanes packed with amenities, and cruise ships that could be classified as floating cities.

The world’s largest cruise ship, ‘MS Oasis of the Seas’ has the world’s first living park at sea, and features over 12,000 plants and 56 trees! It also boasts a zipline, five swimming pools, and two rock climbing walls…talk about luxury travel!

The world’s fastest train is currently the ‘Shanghai Maglev’ in Shanghai, China, and has an average speed of 431 Km/h, and can travel the full 30Km track distance in 7 minutes, thirty seconds.

Long-gone are the days of tight, boxy airplane seating, food that tastes like plastic, and boring in-flight entertainment…
Samoa Airlines offers ‘couch’ seats for passengers, that boast an extra 14 inches of legroom, and are the size of two regular seats, minus the armrest.

Singapore Airlines takes it even further and offers cabin suites that feature a stand-alone bed, sliding privacy doors, personal LCD TVs, Givenchy tableware, and gourmet meals with over 60 different options….they certainly know how to make long flights a breeze!

Whatever your reason, method, or choice of travel is, the age-old tradition of crossing new lands to explore the world still stands to this day as one of the most interesting things you can do with your limited time here on earth.

If you’re sad about the idea that there is no more new territory on earth left to explore, keep in mind that anywhere you haven’t already been is new territory….go create your own map, visit new cultures, taste new foods, and lose yourself in the richness of new experience…you will never regret that you did!

The History of Our Flag

Good Morning to all of our blog readers out there!

Today is National Flag Day in the Philippines, and we decided to share a bit about our flag, what it represents, and a bit of our Country’s history.

The Pledge of Allegiance To The Flag –

Ako ay Filipino
Buong katapatang nanunumpa
Sa watawat ng Pilipinas
At sa bansang kanyang sinasagisag
Na may dangal, katarungan at kalayaan
Na pinakikilos ng sambayanang
Makakalikasan at
I am a Filipino
I pledge my allegiance
To the flag of the Philippines
And to the country it represents
With honor, justice and freedom
Put in motion by one nation
For God
for Nature
for the People and
for the Country.

Our flag was first dreamed up by President Emilio Aguinaldo during his exile in Hong Kong, in 1897…and was first displayed in battle, on May 28, 1898.
It was sewn by Marcela Marino de Agoncillo with the help of her daughter Lorenza and Delfina Herbosa de Natividad, who was a niece of Jose Rizal.

Not many are aware, but to fly the flag with the red pointing upwards is a sign that our country is at war, or in battle.
We flew the flag this way in 1899, when the Philippines was at war with America, and again in 1944, when at war with the Allied Powers.

While under American colonial rule from 1907 to 1919, display of the Philippine flag was declared illegal, and again in 1941 under Japanese rule.

On March 26, 1920, the Philippine Legislature legally adopted the Philippine flag as the official flag of the Philippine Islands.
On March 25, 1936, President Manuel L. Quezon issued the final technical description & specifications of the flag, removing the mythical face from the sun, and describing the exact angles of the stars & geometric pattern of the sun.

The Blue Stripe Symbolizes Justice & Patriotism.
The Red Stripe is for the valor of our warriors, and blood shed in protecting our Nation from invaders.
The White Color stands for Peace & Purity, the triangle represents our Nation gathered together…and also represents the Katipunan – A revolutionary group of patriot Filipinos who fought against Spanish Colonial Rule.
The Three Stars represent Luzon, Mindanao, and The Visayas.
The Sun is for our independence, and the eight rays symbolize & commemorate the eight provinces that led the Philippines in resistance to Spanish Rule.

Our flag is a beautiful and thorough representation of our history and unity as a nation.
Let’s be proud today to fly our great flag, and let the sight of her always instill in us a great feeling of togetherness, strength, and honor for our fallen countrymen & women.

Ang kislap ng watawat mo’y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya,
Kailan pa ma’y di magdidilim

Tuesday Newsday – Marine Ecology

Good Afternoon to all of our fans and readers –

Today is news day here at the White Chocolate Hills Resort blog, and we have a pretty important topic to talk about!

As everyone already knows, the Philippines recently arrested and charged nine Chinese nationals who had poached over 500 sea turtles from the disputed Half Moon Shoal region.
Those who are aware of the extremely endangered nature of sea turtles knows this news is an utter tragedy.

We at White Chocolate Hills Resort do not wish to debate the politics of the event, but we do wish to inform the public a little more on the importance of these magnificent creatures.

Mr. Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, who heads the World Wildlife Fund conservation group in the Philippines is quoted as saying ‘In a world faced with resource scarcity it makes no sense at all, for one country to try to gain control of that rapidly depressing resource…because all it is doing is taking the food from someone else.’

While this may be a valid point, using marine turtles as a food source is deplorable no matter what country is hunting them.
As he stated, sea turtle populations are coming dangerously close to the edge of extinction, with six out of seven species classified as ‘critically endangered’.

When you think about the fact that it takes several decades for a sea turtle to reach maturity, and begin to realize the importance of their roles in ocean and beach conservation, you can start to understand how much of a problem it is to harvest turtles as a food source.

A female turtle can lay in between 50 to 200 eggs at a time… she buries them in the sand and leaves them unattended to incubate for a period of about two months.
Unfortunately, if the eggs reach maturity and hatch in the daylight hours, only around 1% of the babies will survive the journey back into the ocean.

Most turtles are omnivorous, though Leatherback turtles feed exclusively on jellyfish, and work to keep our tropical beaches safe for human recreation.

Marine turtles are one of only about three or four animals that maintain the health of our ocean’s sea grass via grazing.
The grass needs to be constantly cut short, which allows it to spread along the ocean floor & flourish.
Many types of fish and crustaceans are supported by sea grass, such as bottlenose dolphins, conch species, sea stars, sea cucumbers, coral, shrimp and lobsters, parrotfish, manta rays, and more…and the Philippines is home to at least thirteen species of grasses, which creates a large amount of marine biodiversity.

This means if marine turtles become extinct, there is a very high chance that quite a few other marine species that humans rely on will die as well.

Turtle eggs also raise the health of our beaches and dunes.
Both hatched and unhatched eggs raise the vegetation levels of our beaches, which in turn prevents erosion by the sea.

In conclusion, it is highly important that we learn to rely on something other than the mighty turtle for food and decorations because without their help & ocean stewardship, we will find ourselves in a very dangerously unstable environmental situation.
